This term we decided we could do something called an inquiry where we make up a wondering about Earth and beyond. So we searched for some information that is relevant to our wondering or wonderings.
I liked the part where we wrote down some facts and definitions.
The part I found hard was was when we gathered information online relating to our wonderings because it didn't explain the definitions well.
Two facts I found about my inquiry was that Uranus had rings around the planet and Neptune is covered with water.
My wondering was what is Uranus like and why does Neptune have its name Neptune.
Here is my slide show.

Stucture of the Earth
Structure of the Earth Facts
We are learning about the structure of the Earth.
I learnt that the Earth is made up of 4 layers. They are the Crust, Mantle, Outer core and
Inner core
Inner core
Facts about each layer:
Crust - the thinnest layer on the Earth and also it is the closest layer to us.
Mantle - the mantle is a very squidgy layer/ squishy layer holding the Earth. It is the
thickest layer.
thickest layer.
Outer Core - the outer core is like the crust because it is shielding the inner core.
It is so hot - 4000-6000' C that it is runny liquid even though it is made of rocks.

Inner Core - The inner core is the most solid layer on the Earth and also it is the hottest layer.
It is solid because of all the pressure from the other layers around it.

Our group - Buster, Me/ Tristan and Cameron
First we created a 3D image of the earth using clay.
We then cut the shape in half to show the different layers.
After waiting for it to dry, we identified each layer by painting them in different colours

Earthworms
This week we have been writing about something called digging deeper we do a simple sentence the we start to do harder sentences and that where the name came from because your going deeper into the information. And we also did an earthworm study to see how they would react to different things and what phylum they belong to. I prefer doing the earthworm study because we get to see their reactions to objects.
Earthworms 1. Earthworms prefer the dark instead of the light.
2. Earthworms do like to wet surfaces because if they’re moist they will dry up.
3. Earthworms have 100-150 segments on their body.
4. How earthworms do MRS GREN because they move, eat, excrete and sleep.
5. Earthworms prefer to live under grass because it’s harder for their enemies to see them.
6. An earthworm belongs to a phylum family called annelida. This is a category for all WORMS.

Science Fair
We have been learning to complete science investigations. We learnt about the scientific method. We will share our learning at our school science fair.
