Rhyming Couplets

Hi,
Today I am going to put my rhyming couplets together. I have finished my Rocket couplet poem and my Matariki couplet poem. So now I'm going to blog both of them in the same blog post. I enjoyed illustrating the pictures. I didn't like thinking of the rhymes cause I'm not that good at rhyming.

This is my couplet poem about space and rockets. A couplet is a rhyming poem that has 2 lines. For example here is my couplet.

Multiplication Wheel

Hi, 

Today we have been working on our multiplication wheels. We went from to 2x tables to 7x tables. I need to work on my 7x tables and 6x tables. I know my 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 times tables.

My DNA Monster

Today we learned about the molecule DNA, Deoxyribonucleic Acid, our unique recipe that makes us look like we do!.

We used our knowledge of DNA and recessive and dominant traits to create our own unique DNA monsters.

Here is my DNA table of traits and a picture of my DNA monster.

What I like best about my monster is the colour.

Days of the Week and Months of the Year

Today I wrote down the days of the week and the months of year and then I translated them into Maori. Here is my work.....

Fake whitebait fritters

This term for our novel study, Mrs A read us Whitebait Fritters which is a novel written by a Kiwi author Kingi McKinnon.  My favourite part in Whitebait Fritters was when: Wiremu fell into the water and got caught up in the net.

To wind up our learning we decided to make some fake whitebait fritters because we can’t afford to buy real whitebait. We used grated potato to take the place of whitebait and mixed it with eggs and onions. They were really tasty. Then we had to write out the recipe, put it on a Google Drawing and add some images. You can see my work below.

Science: Me and my DNA

 This term for science we are learning all about how the human body works and how special we all are. We are also trying to learn how to think and act more like a scientist. So, Miss Fletcher asked us to look at our faces in the mirror and write down notes about what we look like. The information had to be precise and clear so that when someone read it, it would help them find the person it described quickly. It was a bit like being a detective. You had to look and notice things carefully.

Miss Fletcher said that what we look like depends on our mother and father. Making a new human is a bit like making a cake.  You get some ingredients from your mum and some from your dad. The ingredients are called DNA. Everybody’s cake is different to everyone else’s. 

Miss Fletcher said the person with the most efficient description was Andrew J as he wrote: My hair is 1cm long all over. He is the only student in Team Moana with a haircut like that so he was able to be identified very easily. You can read my description below. The sentences highlighted in blue are the ones that Miss Fletcher said were not precise and clear enough.  Twentyfour people said they could recognise me from my description.
